THE THIRD ANNUAL

50 first jokes

Announcing the third ever Fifty First Jokes, the annual new year's themed comedy blowout.

Fifty First Jokes returns Saturday, January 3rd, bringing comedy in abundance for a third straight year. Fifty of the world's best comedians will debut their first joke of 2009 in a distinct party atmosphere.

50 First Jokes has typically brought together diverse segments of the comedy community: the stand up veterans, up and comers, sketch groups, video bloggers and writers -- some who have performed their first joke ever there. The results are unpredictable and always fascinating.

It's the singular comedy show that has the nerve to take place a mere 67 hours after the ball has dropped in Times Square. The show is in Webster Hall's downstairs venue The Studio. Normally a destination for rock and roll, it's the only venue in the world sturdy enough for such comedy daring. We assure you: There is no better place to watch 50 comics tell their first joke of 2009 then at 50 First Jokes.

Fifty First Jokes will prove the first time doesn't have to be terrifying.

Starring: Lizz Winstead (Shoot the Messenger; The Daily Show), Tom Shillue (Comedy Central Presents), Amy Schumer (Last Comic Standing), Jackie Kashian (Comedy Central Presents), Victor Varnado (Adventures of Pluto Nash; The Awkward Kings of Comedy), Pete Holmes (Best Week Ever), Joe Garden (The Onion), Michelle Buteau (Bumbershoot, MTV), Baron Vaughn (Live at Gotham), Jackie Monahan (LOGO), Myq Kaplan (Open Mic Fights), Matt McCarthy (Montreal Comedy Festival), Sam Brown (Whitest Kids You Know) and Sara Benincasa (236.com). Those and heaps more phenomenal comics and one special secret surprise guest.

Produced by comedians Claudia Cogan (MTV, DC Comedy Festival, here! tv), Jiwon Lee (Root of All Evil, AMC, NBC's Standup for Diversity) and John F. O'Donnell (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Comedy Central's Fresh Faces of Comedy).
